Riverwolf--*nods* Wolf is good about that; while s/he's not limited to the role of "teacher", s/he does a pretty decent job at it! And I agree that flexibility is key--especially when we're arguing semantics rather than practices. I am finding, for myself, that my practical experiences are helping to flesh out my theoretical understanding, which is good.

Lupa, you are so right. I do wonder "am I doing this right?" Yet shamanism inspires and attracts me because of its apparent flexibility.

Yet insecurity was driving me during my last journey, and Wolf had to demonstrate quite clearly that I needed to calm down! Wolf actually pinned me to the ground. The rest of the journey, upon reflection, was all about trusting Wolf and submission.

And when you think about it, does any culture, regardless of how ancient they are, really have a corner on truth? Seems their shamans might say we all have to be flexible and listen. Just when we think we know how "it" works or when we surrender to fear and insecurity, that's when we need to listen most.
